While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi fans took over the social media to celebrating the party's euphoric victory in the just-concluded elections, an unlikely candidate trending on Twitter was Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. In fact, Twitterati couldn't have enough of the Gandhi scion this week. First, it was Rahul Gandhi skipping outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's dinner - this went viral with the hashtag #RahulSkipsDinner? Tweets such as "He barely attended Parliament! Why is everyone so surprised that #RahulSkipsDinner?" were just one of the many questions posted on Twitter by angry netizens who felt Gandhi insulted the country's prime minister.
Twitterati also lampooned Gandhi with the hashtag: #WhyisRahulGandhi smiling. "#Why is Rahul Gandhi smiling? Coz every kid is happy when exams get over and they can go on a vacation".
This after Gandhi's barely minute-long press conference, where he seemed to accept responsibility for the party's defeat but shirked from answering any questions from the media.
