Recession helps

At one of the sessions in Petrotech 2009, a participant lamented the shortage of engineers in the oil sector. He pointed out that instead of taking engineering jobs in the oil sector, they were preferring to take up more lucrative finance and marketing jobs. Planning Commission Member Kirit S Parikh, who was also chairing the session, pointed out that with the economic downturn, finance and marketing jobs would no longer be as attractive. “The economic downturn might help,” he said.
