Though the Gujarat Assembly elections are still a few months away, Congress leaders, who fancy their chances as chief minister of the state, have already launched a social media campaign to boost their prospects. Among the “strongest” contenders are Opposition leader in the state Assembly Shankarsinh Vaghela, state party chief Bharatsinh Solanki as well as Shaktisinh Gohil, Arjun Modhwadia and Siddharth Patel. Vaghela has also openly pledged support to poll strategist Prashant Kishor, who is drawing flak for the Congress’ poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh, and who did not get much credit from new Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for a historic win in the Assembly elections in that state. Vaghela is upbeat that Kishor would help the Congress win the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
