Robert Vadra's many land deals in Haryana and Rajasthan have lately become one of the campaign planks for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). But it is not as though senior leaders are that convinced of the probity of their own party members. Asked about Uma Bharti's statement that Vadra would be jailed if the BJP came to power after May 16, a senior leader initially said the party did not believe in being vindictive. Then, he had second thoughts and added, "Leaving aside our stand, how do you think they [the Congress-led UPA] will treat us if we were in their position?"
