The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s campaign slogan "Achche Din Aane Wale Hai" (Good days are coming) became the source of such a fierce clash between the opposition Congress and ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh that the police had to intervene to defuse the situation. The proximate cause for the spat was the possibility of power tariffs being raised. The state-run Chhattisgarh Electricity Regulatory Commission had organised a public hearing on the issue.
