Information technology (IT) capital Bangalore presented Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with a gift of "IT initiatives" on his 66th birthday on Tuesday. At any rate, the state IT ministry found it the right time to announce massive initiatives like making Bangalore a Wi-Fi-covered city by next year. The ministry also announced an investment of close to Rs 5 crore for creating a 50,000-square-foot incubation centre for IT start-ups. S R Patil, state minister for IT, biotechnology and science & technology, dedicated the nine-page release - loaded with nearly 10 initiatives that would boost IT and entrepreneurship in the state - to the chief minister as his birthday gift. The question the cynics are asking is how many of these gifts would be virtual in the literal sense.
