The Congress has decided to do what you do when you want to put stalwarts to pasture — make them Governors of various states. Arjun Singh, Shivraj Patil, Sontosh Mohan Dev are among a slew of names being considered to fill several vacancies cropping up in various Raj Bhawans in the next couple of months. Patil, the buzz is, might replace Gopalakrishna Gandhi when his term ends later this year as West Bengal Governor. As for Singh, he is likely to settle for either Mumbai or Gandhinagar.
