Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel agree on one thing: that Mumbai needs another airport since the current airport is nearing saturation. They differ, however, on where the new airport should be located, the issue that has caused the recent controversy over Navi Mumbai airport. But Ramesh clearly thinks the problem can be solved. When he was recently asked to comment on Patel’s statement that it is impossible to find an alternate site to Navi Mumbai, he did not pause before replying, “With Praful, I am always hopeful.” Only time will tell who is right.
