There has been a distinct shift in market interest toward software services stocks lately. Last week, the BSE IT index jumped 11.04 per cent, compared to a mere 2.93 per cent rise in the Sensex and a 2.72 per cent increase in the BSE 500 index.
Even in the preceding two weeks, the BSE IT index has outperformed the broad market indices by a decent margin. Prior to that, in mid-August, the BSE IT index had risen 10.33 per cent since mid-May, when the current rally had actually begun.
In the same period, the Sensex had risen almost 33 per cent. After the last three weeks of outperformance, the gain in the BSE IT index stands at 40.75 per cent since mid-May, while the Sensex has risen 48.11 per cent during the same time-frame.
