Among the two-wheeler majors, TVS Motors has been the slowest in terms of sales growth this fiscal. Between April and September, the company managed a 5.15 per cent increase in motorcycle sales, compared with 19.9 per cent for Bajaj Auto and 9.3 per cent for Hero Honda.
The saving grace for the company was that overall sales were dragged down because of a dip in the sales of its two-stroke model, Max. Since Max is an entry-level motorcycle, its profitability is much lower compared with the other four-stroke offerings of TVS.
