The education department in Chhattisgarh may have its own buildings with airconditioned halls, but its officials prefer to book star hotels for most functions, from welcome parties to farewells. Matters took a twist when a welcome party was arranged at a hotel for a senior official, but since the function had been arranged without the official’s consent, he never even turned up for it. This didn’t stop the other invitees from enjoying the dinner.
