Few know that in addition to being a wizard on the Sino-Indian boundary issue, new Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao nee Menon is also a poet who writes in Malayalam. Her poems have been published in several Malayalam newspapers and there are enough of them to have been compiled and published as several books. But are they good ? Those who know Malayalam say Malayalam writing is highly evolved and Rao would have been mauled by critics if her poetry was mediocre.
