When Misa Bharti went to file her nomination to the Rajya Sabha, she forgot to carry a pen with her. She was about to use a pen offered by the returning officer, when her father and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad stopped her.

"Never use a sarkari pen," was Prasad's advice. "It might have invisible ink, which will disappear after an hour." Member of the Legislative Assembly from the party, Bhola Yadav, saved the day by providing Bharti a pen with which she signed her nomination papers.
