Transferred asset

Mining secretary Vijay Kumar, who was instrumental in getting the new mining Bill, along with the controversial profit sharing provision, through cabinet, has been transferred to the rural development ministry. Having realised Kumar’s potential in handling controversial issues, the government has decided to use the IAS officer’s experience for another equally contentious assignment – the Land Acquisition and Resettlement and Rehabilitation Bill – under the ministry’s land resource department.
