Social media may be the trendy new communication tool of choice for ministers in the National Democratic Alliance, but excessive reliance on it can cause problems too. A prominent minister recently posted on his Facebook account a letter he wrote to all chief ministers advising them of steps the government took to prepare for the poor monsoon soon after it took charge. The trouble was that the minister mentioned the date the government took charge as June 26 instead of May 26. It was an obvious error but was immediately pounced on by a reader and began trending on other social media platforms soon after. The post was immediately corrected but the damage had been done.
