The outgoing Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau Neelam Kapur had fallen foul of many, both within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and outside, when she invited Twitter India's head of News, Politics and Government Raheel Khursheed to lecture Indian Information Service officers on using the micro-blogging site effectively. Khursheed took a training session of the officers earlier this week. Kapur tweeted on August 5 with a picture of Khursheed at the session: "A session of Press Information Officers with Raheel Khursheed head of Govt and politics Twitter India. Trying to do it better!" Many on Twitter raked up some of Khursheed's tweets dating back to 2012, one of which had ostensibly described a Bharatiya Janata Party leader as "mass murderer". People in the know say this added to the ever-widening gulf between Kapur and the new dispensation at the Centre that led to her removal.
