The virtual world appears to have politicians of all hues in its grip - witness the twitter battles between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party over the rescue operations in Uttarakhand - and All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijaya Singh seems to be one of its most faithful acolytes. At the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee meeting in Bangalore, on his maiden visit after taking charge of the party's affairs in the state, he didn't seem to have any interest in the proceedings or in what the chief minister or railway minister were saying in their speeches. Instead, he was seen to be in deep communion with his mobile phone, either texting or perhaps checking what's being said in the social media. At any rate, that underlined the popular perception that politicians operate on another plane.
