Bureaucrats have been the fall guys in the ongoing tussle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung. As was widely reported, senior bureaucrat Anindo Majumdar, who was removed by the Delhi government as principal secretary of the Services Department, found himself locked out of his office at the Players Building (Delhi Secretariat). Now, despite the fact that the LG has declared void the CM's orders to remove him from his post and the Union home ministry has issued a notification saying only the LG was authorised to transfer bureaucrats in Union territories, Majumdar continues to be "office-less". According to the central government, he continues to hold the post of principal secretary, services, but according to the Delhi government, he is "waiting" for a suitable posting. As such, the IAS officer has no designated office/cabin at the Delhi Secretariat.
