Renaming of roads in Lutyens' Delhi has gained momentum of late. But in some cases, history has shown its own way of striking back, with the discarded names continuing to remain in use in some other form and reminding people of the old names. Recently, Aurangzeb Road was renamed as A P J Abdul Kalam Road amidst controversy. But soon it was noticed by opponents to the name change that though Aurangzeb Road was banished, Aurangzeb Lane next to it survived and continues to be there. Now, Race Course Road has been renamed as Lok Kalyan Marg. But Race Course continues to thrive as the name of a Delhi Metro station!
