Who needs the National Judicial Commission?

 His Lordships in India are generally known to be fiercely possessive about members of their own clan. So when former Chief Justice of India S P Bharucha said a few months ago that there is doubt about the integrity of only 20 per cent of judges, few took it as a character certificate for the remaining 80 per cent. Rather, it was widely interpreted as a damning indictment of members of the higher judiciary.

 For some time now, the executive has been raising its voice about the non-accountability of the members of the higher judiciary. The difference now is that even the legal community has joined hands with the executive.
