Though the return on capital market investment had been 14-15 per cent for the last 8 months, investors had missed the opportunity since they were not keen on investing in shares. This is because most of the investors in India do not have a proper investment plan, said Pradeep Chandrasekhar, CEO of Finmark Trainers India Limited.
Delivering a lecture at the Business Standard Smart Business meet held here today, he said the capital market was a good avenue for investment, especially in the long-run. But investors should have a proper investment plan. Trading is very different from investing. An investor can invest in companies, which have proven track record, quality products and having consumer confidence.
Those who are active in short-term investments should also have a proper trading plan, he added.
The percentage of population connected with the capital market was in a range of 4-5 per cent all India level, opined other speakers.
The people of India need proper education on investment planning. A minimum of 20 per cent of the earnings should be saved and invested in proper products.
