  • Ensure that you are not underinsured. An individual must have a minimum Rs 5 lakh cover while a family living in a metro should have at least a Rs 10 lakh cover.
  • Family floater plan is a good option for those who are married and have children as they can get a higher sum insured for a lower premium than if they were to buy individual policies.
  • Opt for a policy with a shorter waiting period for pre-existing diseases.
  • Select an insurer with a high claim settlement ratio. This will reduce the chances of your claim being rejected without a valid reason.
  • Go for a plan that does not have sub-limits on things like room rent, ICU charges, etc.
