Net collection from small saving schemes in the state is pegged at Rs 521.88 crore by October end, 2013 against Rs 252.35 crore collected in the same period a year ago, an increase of about 106 per cent.
Khurda district has contributed the most to the small savings at Rs 59.25 crore followed by Ganjam district at Rs 52.81 crore and Cuttack at Rs 46.10 crore.
Other districts that have contributed substantially include Balasore (Rs 43.26 crore), Sundergarh (Rs 38.77 crore), Kendrapada (Rs 30.23 crore), Bhadrak (Rs 29.47 crore), Jajpur (Rs 23.83 crore).
"The collections at the end of October is already 74.55 per cent of the target fixed for the current fiscal", said state finance minister, Prasanna Acharya in a written reply to the state assembly.

The districts, with low collection under small savings schemes, include Gajapati (Rs 2.20 crore), Kandhamal (Rs 5.86 crore), Boudh (Rs 2.83 crore), Kalahandi (Rs 5.52 crore), Nuapada (Rs 1.67 crore), Nabarangpur (Rs 3.14 crore ), Rayagada (Rs 2.80 crore), Malkangiri (Rs 2.09 crore).In the last fiscal, against the target of Rs 600 crore from small saving collections, the collection was Rs 510.10 crore.
