 "Alagiri told me Stalin will die in four months: Karunanidhi")
Speaking to reporters in Chennai today, Karunanidhi said, “use of unsavoury words against him (Stalin), functioning in a manner not in line with the post he holds in the party, giving media interviews violating party code of conduct are some of the reasons that led to Alagiri’s suspension from the party.”
On January 24, DMK said that it is temporarily suspending Former Union Minister and Party’ South Zone organising secretary Alagiri in the interests of party’s welfare, according to the Party.

“Alargiri has been nurturing unknown hatred against Stalin for a long time. He came to my bedroom and complained about Stalin using unsavoury words and shouted in anger that Stalin would die in 3-4 months. No father can tolerate such words. But as I am the party leader I tolerated that,” the 89-year old Karunanidhi narrated about morning the drama, which was held at his bed room on January 24 morning.
While stating that as the party's leader he cannot tolerate such threats.
The 62-year old Alagiri is the son of DMK Supermo and President of the party M Karunanidhi. Ever since, Karunanidhi in public said he would like his younger son and Alagiri's brother M K Stalin will be his political successor, Alagiri has been involved in an aggressive and lengthy tug-of-war for control of the party.
In a recent interview, Alagiri opposed an alliance in the Lok Sabha election with the DMDK party which is led by actor-turned politician Vijayakanth. His opposition came at a time his father and Party's Chief was tipping for potential alliance with DMDK.
