Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main partner of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), reported an income of Rs 977 crore from unknown sources in two years 2013-14 and 2014-15, Factly.in, a data-journalism portal, reported on November 22, 2016.
The main opposition party – Congress – reported income of Rs 969 crore during 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Political parties in India receive contributions from various sources. As per the existing law, they need not disclose/report the identity of the contributor if the contribution is less than Rs 20,000, Factly reported.
