Andhra CM visits flood-hit Srikakulam district

The chief minister also visited a couple of villages and called on fishermen, farmers and other affected people

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy Sunday made an aerial survey of cyclone-hit Srikakulam district.

The chief minister, who air-dashed to Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad, later left for Srikakulam in a helicopter. He inspected the crops damaged due to cyclone Phailin which crossed Odisha coast on Oct 12.

The chief minister also visited a couple of villages and called on fishermen, farmers and other affected people.

At Donkuru village, Kiran Reddy met fishermen and heard their problems. He assured them that the government would extend them all possible help.

He announced Rs.40 crore to solve various problems faced by fishermen. The chief minister also announced Rs.5 crore for the development of the village.

He assured farmers that they would be provided compensation for the losses they suffered. He said efforts were being made for paying additional compensation to coconut farmers.

At Icchapuram, the chief minister held a meeting with officials and reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures taken up in the cyclone-hit areas.
