According to an official press release, chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, told a group of pharma experts on Wednesday that the state government would appoint a nodal officer in this regard.
Naidu also reviewed a mining policy, which envisages entrustment of sand mining activities to Dwcra and SHGs. Dwcra (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) is government’s anti-poverty programme.

Naidu was stated to have instructed officials to maintain sand stock yards under the supervision of AP Mining Development Corporation and monitor sand mining activity through closed circuit televisions.
It was estimated that 20 mn tonne sand would be required for government projects, while 17.5 mn tonnes would be needed for construction activity in the private sector.
