Apollo Hospitals launches eAccess

Service launched in collaboration with Philips with a capacity to monitor 500 beds from a command center

Taking the telemedicine concept to its logical end, the Apollo Hospitals group on Wednesday launched eAccess-  an advanced technology interface that enables doctors to monitor and provide critical care services to patients undergoing treatment in intensive care units even in remote locations.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, who formally launched eAccess today, said his government would support the Apollo group's new initiative and promised to facilitate every step that takes tertiary and critical care services to the masses.

Complimenting Apollo chairman Prathap C Reddy for their role in Hyderabad evolving as a health-care hub, the chief minister said the  government would also initiate steps to encourage health tourism to further leverage the city’s health-care infrastructure.

Launched in collaboration with Philips with a capacity to monitor 500 beds from a command centre, eAccess works on a hub-and-spoke model, which leverages the capabilities of various technologies, including two-way audiovisual communication, equipment data interface and novel representation of clinical data in various formats among other things.

According to Prathap Reddy, with eAccess Apollo has leapfrogged the ICU care to next generation delivery. The critical care parametres have significantly improved, including reduction in average length of stay, decreased patient mortality and reduced patient morbidity, he said.
