The Assembly elections in five states are likely to be held before the board examinations, sources said on Monday.
According to CNN-News18, elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur are likely to be between mid-February and March 2017.
The Election Commission will announce the final election dates after December 20.
It is expected to be a neck-and-neck fight in all these states and the Opposition is trying to corner the government over the issue of demonetisation. Leaders across political circles have lately been travelling across states to woo voters.
