BJP ahead in three states, Congress in Chhattisgarh

Kejriwal is leading in New Delhi seat; Congress heads for worst ever performance in Rajasthan

The BJP today appeared to be on the road to capturing power in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and was leading in Delhi while Congress and BJP are neck and neck in Chhattisgarh in the assembly elections when counting of votes began.

Surprisingly the debutant Aam Admi Party was putting up a good show in the national capital pushing the ruling Congress to the third position.

In Madhya Pradesh, where BJP is ruling, the party was ahead in 118 seats in the 230-member assembly and Congress in 56 constituencies.

The ruling Congress was also doing badly in Rajasthan where BJP was in a commanding position in 131 in the 200-member assembly and Congress trailing way behind at 25 seats.

The national capital appeared to be returning a hung verdict with BJP leading in 33 of the 70 seats. The AAP has done well to lead in 24 seats while the Congress was trailing way behind leading only in 11 constituencies. Others were ahead in one seat.

The only solace for Congress came from Chhattisgarh where the wiping out of the party leadership in a dastardly maoist attack in Bastar earlier this year appears to have given it a good push. The Congress was leading in 22 seats while the BJP was ahead in 18.
