BJP attacks Nitish; force adjournment of both Houses

The BJP MLAs demanded suspension of all business to take up adjournment given by party member Prem Kumar and Shyamdeo Paswan over Bodh Gaya terror attack

With bitterness among erstwhile NDA partners increasing post-split, BJP today sharpened its attack on Nitish Kumar government staging noisy protest in both Houses of Bihar Legislature over separate issues and demanded resignation of the Chief Minister.

In the Legislative Assembly, the BJP MLAs trooped into the well of the House over serial blasts in Bodh Gaya even before Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary announced beginning of day's proceedings.

The BJP MLAs demanded suspension of all business to take up adjournment given by party member Prem Kumar and Shyamdeo Paswan over Bodh Gaya terror attack.

Members of Lalu Prasad's RJD also stormed into the well of the House on the alleged "highhandedness" of Kaimur District Magistrate with party workers.

Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore Yadav urged the Chair to take up the adjournment notice urgently suspending other business as the matter of terror attack on famous Buddhist shrine was concerned with the prestige of the state within the nation and in the world.

The Speaker assured the agitating BJP members that the Chair would hear them in accordance with the rules of the House.

While BJP members continued to agitate in the Well of the House and raised slogans against the CM demanding his resignation, senior minister Vijay Chaudhary criticised the Opposition leader for "unruly" behaviour of his party members.

When all persuasions failed to move the agitating BJP and RJD members, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 PM.

The scene was no better in the Legislative Council. Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Sushil Kumar Modi raised the issue of drought like situation in the state and the government inaction. With the opposition members continuing to raise slogans against the government, Chairman Awdesh Narayan Singh adjourned the House till 2 PM.
