"We have decided to lay a siege at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha to protest against this government. On December 9 with an intention to awaken this government, about 50,000 party workers will lay siege to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha," BJP national vice-president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa told reporters here. He criticised the government for its 'failure' in handling issues faced by sugarcane, onion and maize farmers and also accused it of neglecting the Dr Nanjundappa Committee report on regional imbalances.
The BJP is galvanising its strength to corner government in the winter session to be held from December 9 to 20 at Balagavi. Congress leaders had recently attempted to stage a protest near the state secretariat at Bengaluru, demanding action against the "tainted" ministers in the government, following which they were arrested and later released. They had also staged a protest during the special cabinet meeting held at Kalburagi on November 28.
