Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has set a target of adding 10 million new members in Karnataka. He told state BJP leaders here to achieve the target by March this year.

Shah told party leaders to expand the party base by enrolling new members in every polling booth across the state. For the first time, the party has launched an online membership drive in the country, Shah said.

“As part of the membership drive, we have already added 29.5 million new members across the country,” Shah said.  Shah said the Narendra Modi government has fulfilled many of its promises, made in the election manifesto, and has drawn up a road map to achieve the rest.

“We have formed a special investigation team to bring back black money deposited in overseas banks. The SIT has been given the details of accountholders in Swiss banks and it is working in the desired direction,” he said. Under the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, the banks have added 95 million new accounts and for the first time after Independence these families have got their accounts opened, he said.

At the core committee meeting, state party leaders and Union ministers such as H N Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda, former Chief Minister and BJP Vice-President B S Yeddyurappa, another former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, state party president Pralhad Joshi and Muralidhar Rao, in-charge of the BJP affairs in the state, were present.
