Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today asked the 14th Finance Commission to treat Andhra Pradesh as a "special" case, asking it to waive the outstanding central loan of Rs 10,400 crore.

Naidu asked the Commision for a special grant of Rs 1,00,213 crore, during the next five years, to build a modern capital and Rs 41,254 crore to expand growth and employment opportunities and improve the public services in the state.

He also asked the comission to bear in mind the central government's assurance of granting AP a special category status. Reports had earlier said that it was not obligatory for the Centre to grant the status untill the Finance Commission makes a recommentation in this regard.
