Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today criticised the opposition Congress Party for levelling baseless allegations with regard to the so-called Vyapam Scam, and accused the latter of killing democracy and traditions by not letting him answer questions raised by party MLAs.
"Congress friends are killing democracy and traditions. I want to answer all the questions but they are not ready to listen. They are allowed to demand and question me after my answer. They don't want the assembly to work. They are playing a dirty game. But democracy is my right. If they have the guts then they should listen first. I have the right to speak and I will continue to do so," said Chouhan.
He was speaking after Congress MLAs protested outside the Madhya Pradesh Assembly demanding a CBI investigation of the Vyapam Scam.
"Until the chief minister orders a CBI investigation in the Vyapam Scam, we will continue to protest," said a Congress Party protester.
Chouhan has repeatedly dismissed Congress allegations of wrongdoing, terming them an attempt to defame his government.
The Madhya Pradesh Recruitment Scam or Vyapam Scam pertains to manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), which is being probed by the Special Task Force (STF).
