Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said his government had proven its majority in the Assembly, and dared the Congress and Shiv Sena to move a no-confidence motion against his government or file petitions in a court of law if they thought otherwise. He said his government was fully prepared to face any such challenge.

Fadnavis said the trust motion moved by BJP's Ashish Shelar and passed by voice vote is legal .

He said if the Congress and Sena wanted voting, they should have asked for it within the stipulated time on the floor of the Assembly.

Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of three-day session of the state legislature, a visibly relaxed Fadnavis said the questions raised by the Congress and the Sena about the legitimacy of his government are unfounded.

"My government is legal and legitimate. The vote of confidence has been passed within the legislative framework. If Congress and Shiv Sena have any objections, they can bring in a no-confidence motion against the government and we are prepared to face it. They can also go to the High Court or even the Supreme Court," he said.
