CM Mamata Banerjee visiting the UK to showcase Bengal
Business Standard West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a 37-member official delegation to London on July 26 for a five-day visit to the UK. The CM's visit will begin with a conference of company CEOs during her interaction at the UK India Business Council. During her visit to London, Banerjee will showcase West Bengal as an ideal destination for investment. Agreements on health, education and other social sectors could be signed.
However, Banerjee is unlikely to meet British Prime Minister David Cameron in London because of Cameron's preoccupation with the economic crisis in Greece.
Actually, Cameron will not be in the country.
The CM's visit to London was in response to an invitation by the British Prime Minister. Banerjee will reach London on July 26 and will join a meeting of the UKIBC and FICCI to discuss issues related to business opportunities in the state the following day.
