Committee to look into reducing non-plan expenditure

Punjab government today said it has notified a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to suggest ways in reducing expenditure of various departments, specially non-plan expenditure to bring transparency in financial transaction of departments.

The committee will look into expenditure incurred by various departments, especially the non-plan side for the past five years, a government spokesman today said.

The committee would work under chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and vice-chairman of the state Planning Board has been incorporated as special invitee, he said, adding that Principal Secretary Finance, Secretary Planning and Special Secretary to Chief Minister have been included as members.

Secretary, Expenditure would work as the convener of the committee, the spokesman added.
