Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today dismissed the Congress party's allegations on the Vyapam scam as false and an attempt to defame the government.

"There have been continuous attempts by Congress to defame the government by false allegations. They have been trying to divert the attention of the investigating agencies and to defame the party and the CM. Congress was also continuously demanding investigation in this case, but as soon as I proposed a discussion on the matter in the parliament, the opposition tried to run away from it. This shows that Congress was not speaking the truth," said Chouhan.

MP recruitment scam or Vyapam scam pertains to manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), which is being probed by the Special Task Force (STF).

The STF had on December 18, lodged two FIRs against former State Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others in connection with alleged irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of Grade II and III Contractual Teachers conducted by MPPEB.

Meanwhile, a defamation case has been filed by lawyer Anand Tiwari representing the Madhya Pradesh government against Congress leader K. K Mishra for his alleged comments in a press conference on June 21 targeting CM Chouhan and his family.
