Criticising the manner in which the Telangana Bill was passed in Lok Sabha, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today accused the Congress and BJP of adopting "a wrong and unhealthy tradition".

"Both Congress and BJP have together laid the foundation of a wrong and unhealthy tradition ... There is a provision in Article 3 in the Constitution for the Central government to create a new state. A healthy tradition should have been adopted for the formation of Telangana," Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Stating that his party was not against a Telangana state and the Bill was cleared when both Congress and BJP joined hands, Kumar, who is driving force of JD(U), said "JD(U) is not a party to the entire process adopted for this ."

JD(U) members had walked out of the Lok Sabha during voting on Bill yesterday.

Kumar said that the wrong process adopted had ruffled the feelings of both supporters and opponents of the Telangana state.

Kumar had met YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in Patna in December last year and shared his concern over the Centre's efforts to create Telangana without acquiring the consent of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

He had promised Jagan Mohan Reddy that JD(U) would protest this.
