The Congress on Wednesday released a booklet, The Truth of BJP government: 100 days of misrule, to mark the first 100 days (May 26-September 3) of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

“The story till now is only of slogans and more slogans,” said Congress spokesman Anand Sharma while releasing the booklet.

Hitting at the government for its alleged inability to rein in prices of essential commodities, the Congress highlighted that the food inflation had risen and diesel-driven inflation hadn’t lessened.

It criticised the government for “hoodwinking the people in the name of black money.” It demanded answers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had promised to bring back to the country the black (unaccounted) money stashed abroad in 100 days. It noted that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had done a U-turn and said that no timeline could be stated.

The Congress said under the “nationalist” government  there had been 100 ceasefire violations in 100 days. It asked why India still had a part-time defence minister.

It criticised Prime Minister Modi for his “double speak” and alleged sectarian politics. The Congress said the secular polity of the country was in danger. There had been 600 riots in 100 days, the booklet noted.

The party criticised the government for an “inconsistent foreign policy.” It said there was a “systematic destruction of institutions”, the government was of the rich and companies, and there was “minimum governance, minimum talent and maximum distrust.” The party’s view was, “The results of all the by-elections held after the Lok Sabha elections reflect people's anger.” The Congress said, "It continues to make wild and baseless allegations on its political opponents on the one hand and continues to make false promises on the other."

Making a “promise” to the people, the Congress vowed that Modi and his government’s "mistakes and wrongdoings" would not go uncontested.
