He introduced various schemes such as Sakaala, aimed at providing time-bound services at government offices. However, due to factional feud, the party was voted out of power during the Karnataka Assembly elections during May 2013, and D V Sadananda Gowda was elected as the opposition leader of legislative council.
After becoming the CM, his equations with his Yeddyurappa soured. Gowda has never held any positions in the Centre. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Gowda won from Bangalore North by a margin of 229,764 votes against Congress' C Narayan Swamy. This will be his third term in the Lok Sabha after being elected in 2004 and 2009 polls.
