Appearing in public for the first time after being neglected by the party to make Narendra Modi the Prime Ministerial candidate, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani would dedicate a power plant in Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The 500-Mw power station had been set up by the state-owned Chhattisgarh State Electricity Generation Company in Korba. The unit would be the party of Korba West thermal power station and would be the biggest unit of the state-owned power company that runs 12 units across the state.
The plant starting commercial production would enhance the state’s installed capacity. According to company officials, the installed power capacity of Chhattisgarh would now increase to 2424-Mw. The new unit had been constructed with a cost of Rs 3671 crore.
What makes the event important is the arrival of Lal Krishna Advani to dedicate the unit. This would be the first public programme that he would be attending after the anointment of Modi as party’s prime ministerial candidate by sidelining him.
The district administration in Korba had confirmed the visit of Advani. According to the scheduled received, he would land in Raipur in a special aircraft and fly for Korba in chopper. He would dedicate the power plant at 12 noon before proceeding to Bilaspur where he would lay the foundation stone for Arpa irrigation project. In both the places, Advani would address public meeting that put the party office bearers on their toes. The ruling party leaders are leaving no stone un-turn to mobilize crowd to make Advani’s public meeting a big show. The short attendance would mean state leaders had also ignored the party “father figure”.
However, all eyes are now set in Korba and Bilaspur. The party leaders and workers are keen to hear Advani, literally, to establish what his next stand would be.
