Congress senior leader Digvijaya Singh has once again raised a controversy with his comments: the latest being his alleged sexist remark about young woman MP from Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh Meenkashi Natarajan, aclose aide of Rahul gandhi. Singh reportedly addressing a gathering in Mandsaur referred to Natarajan as 'a 100 percent tunch maal.' Digvijay Singh today however clarified in the capital that his 'remarks had been misinterpreted' and said he was infact praising Natarajan equating her to untarnished gold.  The BJP however leapt at the opportunity to ridicule Digvijay Singh who has always lashed out at their Hindutva leanings, calling him a 'mental case.'

Singh who was in Natarajan’s constituency while eulogizing the young MP for her hard work had allegedly said, 'She is your Member of Parliament. She is a Gandhian, she is simple and honest...she goes to everybody, from village to village. I have 40-42 years of experience (in politics) and I am an old connoisseur...politicians come to understand things even with little hint as to who is genuine and who is a fraud. She is 100% tunch maal and fights for the poor.'

Opposition BJP lashed out at Singh with its Vinay Katiyar going on record to say 'Though it is an internal matter of the Congress party I maintain that Digvijaya Singh is not in a stable state of mind. He has become a mental case. He urgently needs to be admitted to a hospital where he can be cured immediately.'

The person at the centre of the controversy, Natarajan however took no offence to Digvijaya Singh's remark and attempted to downplay it. 'His statement has to be looked at in complete perspective. He has appreciated my work. I am not offended with Digvijaya Singh's statement', Natarajan said.

The Congress officially left it to Singh to clarify its stand with the party only stating that they don’t accept such language.
