DMDK party leader A Vijayakant Monday announced the sale of application forms for party aspiring to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

He said the forms can be bought from the party headquarters January 23 onwards. The form for general constituencies costs Rs 20,000, and Rs 10,000 for a reserved seat.

This comes even as Vijayakant is being wooed by political parties for an electoral alliance.

In a statement issued here, Vijayakant said those who are desirous of contesting in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections from Tamil Nadu (39 seats) and Puducherry (one seat) could fill in and submit their forms by February 1.

Vijayakant said prospective candidates should be party functionaries or primary members.

Interestingly, DMK and BJP are wooing the DMDK for an electoral alliance.

DMK President M Karunanidhi said he would be happy if the DMDK aligns with his party for the general elections.

Vijayakant had earlier said DMDK's stand (on whether it would form an alliance with another party for the general elections) would be announced February 2 at a party conference.
