The opposition leader, along with a few Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from his party, has met Panneerselvam at Secretariat today and sought the government to call for a special session of the assembly to pass resolution on the Cauvery water sharing issue.
Stalin today conveyed the resolutions passed by the farmers associations and political parties, including that the State government should call for a special session of the Assembly and also should put pressure on Centre to set up the Cauvery Management Board.
It may be noted that the DMK has been seeking for a special session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly to discuss the Cauvery issue, after the Karnataka government convened a special session of Assembly to discuss the issue. However, Jayalalithaa has not responded to the demand.
Panneerselvam has taken over the portfolio of Jayalalithaa this week, following the State Governor C Vidyasagar Rao reallocated the portfolio considering the ailment of the Chief Minister until Jayalalithaa resumes her duties. Following the reallocation, various ministers conducted periodical review meetings in their departments.
Jayalalithaa's health condition is improving and she will resume office soon, said Panruti Ramachandran, senior leader of AIADMK.
