Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's nephew Mandeep Singh on Saturday said that Daljeet Singh Kohli's decision to join the BJP is wrong and has hurt the sentiments of his family.

Singh said he was also asked to join the BJP, but turned the offer down."What the BJP and Daljeet Singh Kohli have done is completely wrong. We all have a very good relations with the prime minister. The whole family is with the Congress and will remain with it until our last breath. Daljeet Singh Kohli has stooped to a new low by doing this. What he is thinking, we cannot say? He has never indulged in any political activity in Amritsar, so, we cannot comment on what made him join the BJP. But whatever he has done, is not right and we are hurt by his actions," said Mandeep Singh.

"I also received an offer to join the BJP, but I rejected them. There was no deal involving money. Neither have I said anything in front of the media. I have no idea why Daljeet Singh has joined the BJP. His joining with the BJP will not harm the Congress, and neither can the BJP benefit from it. Whatever the BJP has done is only to create bitterness between two brothers," Singh added.

Kohli, joined the BJP on Friday evening at a rally held in Amritsar. The rally was also attended by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal .

Addressing the gathering, Modi said that Kohli's decision to join the BJP would increase the party's strength, and added that it would be his endeavour to forge a close relationship with the latter.
