FM assures promptaction on State's demands, says Jayalalithaa

Jayalalithaa met Arun Jaitley during her visit to Delhi to meet the PM today

Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Defence Arun Jaitley has assured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa that "prompt and positive action would be taken as early as possible" on various issues raised by her, said a press release from the State government.

Jayalalithaa, who met Jaitley today evening 4.30 PM at his office, has handed over a letter and a background note containing issues pertaining to Tamil Nadu including Goods and Services Tax and release of pending claims of compensation due to Central Sales Tax rate reduction. Besides it also raised issues such as shortfalls in release of Central Grants, enhancement of Central Support for Social Security Pensions, reversal of an amendment made in 2013 to Section 40 of the Income Tax Act, and the redesign of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Direct Benefit Transfer.

Jayalalithaa has also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted a memorandum with various requirements of the State government with the Central government.
