After completing one month in office on June 23 chief minister Anandiben Patel had launched 100-day target for her government calling it the Gatisheel or Progressive Gujarat campaign with focus on 11 major people-oriented welfare programmes under 48 administrative heads. The target included social and welfare issues like women empowerment, malnutrition free Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi cleanliness drive, modernisation of revenue records, priority to drinking water and solid waste disposal under Gujarat Urban Mission, starting 100 days Smart Learning programmes in select 500 schools, strengthening the skill development training for youth and holding job fairs.
Giving details of the achievements government spokesperson Nitin Patel today said that for eight issues of women empowerment achievement was 168.38 per cent followed by nutritious Gujarat with 111.80 per cent, Mahatma Gandhi Cleanliness campaign with 406.83 per cent achievement rate.
“We have achieved more than 100 per cent of the target set for the first 100 days of Gatisheel Gujarat. Only the target for holding women empowerment seminars could not be achieved because of the heavy rains,” Patel said.
He said that the campaign was launched to give speed up implementation of social welfare and other schemes by state government departments. Nitin Patel said that in the second phase of the campaign 111 more public welfare activities and initiatives, under 18 various sectors would be taken up with target of 150 days.
Along with Swavalamban Abhiyaan, Swastha Gujarat, Sports development, Urban Mission, various initiatives for the welfare of handicapped and senior citizens will also be included in the phase two of the campaign.
Earlier in the day chief minister Anandiben Patel expressed satisfaction over the successful implementation of the works targeted under the first phase of Gatisheel Gujarat, specially in areas like granting permission for building toilets, imparting self-defence training to women under Suraksha Setu and distributing milk to children belonging to scheduled tribes.
She also appealed the government officials to work persistently towards meeting these targets by March 31, 2015.
