Govt's legislative agenda
BS ReporterThe Lok Sabha met on Monday after a month-long break. It will take up the Railway Budget demands for grants for discussion and voting on Tuesday and the finance bill on April 29. Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the government planned to introduce the land bill and other legislative agenda, including the real estate regulatory bill, after May 4. The Lok Sabha session concludes on May 8, while the Rajya Sabha will meet for a new session on Thursday and is scheduled to adjourn sine die on May 13. To determine its legislative schedule, the government has had to to factor in a four-day holiday from April 30 to May 3, on account of Buddha Purnima and Labour Day as well as the weekend.
"The priority is the Finance and Railway Bills and the Demand for Grants because these have to be passed before April 30. All the other Bills will be (taken up) next month between May 4 and May 8," Naidu said. He said the party will launch a 'mahasampark' or contact campaign on May 1 where party workers, MPs, MLAs and elected representatives would be asked to inform people about the work done by the Centre."
